GL periods can be password protected.  When a period is password protected the end user must enter the password before a GL posting can happen to that period.  To put a password on a period follow the steps below:

• In Enterprise choose General Ledger > Setup > GL Profile > Open Tab
• Type in the password next to each Year/Period you want to password protect
• Click Save
